Beyond the Brochure: Why I’m Starting a Conversation About Senior Living

After more than 30 years in senior care, I’ve come to realize something important:

Families don’t need another brochure.

They need honest answers.

Every week, I meet families facing one of the most emotional decisions they’ll ever make. They’re trying to balance love, guilt, safety, finances, independence, and hope—all while navigating a healthcare system that often feels overwhelming.

The questions are always familiar:

“How do we know it’s time?”

“Will Mom or Dad feel like we’ve given up on them?”

“What’s the difference between assisted living and memory care?”

“How do we know which community is the right one?”

Unfortunately, many families don’t start asking these questions until they’re in the middle of a crisis—a hospitalization, a fall, a dementia diagnosis, or caregiver burnout. Decisions made under pressure are often the hardest ones.

That’s why I’m launching my blog, Beyond the Brochure.

This isn’t a marketing campaign, and it isn’t about promoting one community over another.

It’s about sharing practical guidance from someone who has spent decades leading senior living communities, opening new communities, building care teams, supporting families, and helping older adults live with dignity, purpose, and connection.

My goal is to pull back the curtain on senior living and provide clear, honest information that empowers families to make confident decisions before a crisis forces them to.

I’ll be sharing insights on topics such as:
